Royal Mail Service Delays: Impacted Postcodes and Delivery Offices (2026)

Royal Mail's Service Delays: A Weather-Related Woe?

Royal Mail has issued a warning, and it's not just about the weather. With over 100 UK postcodes potentially affected, the company is facing a challenging situation. But here's where it gets controversial: is it really just the weather causing these delays?

The company has identified 38 delivery offices that might experience slower services due to a combination of factors. A Royal Mail spokesperson explained that adverse weather conditions, including storms, and higher staff sickness rates have disrupted certain routes. However, the firm assures customers that most mail is delivered as planned, acknowledging the frustration of unexpected delays.

Royal Mail's commitment to serving nearly two million postcodes and delivering mail six days a week is a tall order. Last year, Ofcom approved a change in their delivery schedule, allowing Royal Mail to skip second-class letter deliveries on Saturdays. This change was initially piloted at 35 delivery offices, but expanding it nationwide has proven challenging due to disagreements with the staff union.

And this is the part most people miss: Royal Mail is currently in a month-long dispute resolution process with the Communication Workers Union. The aim? To reach an agreement on how the workforce will be affected by these overhauls.

The list of "most impacted" delivery offices and postcodes is as follows:
