Apple has made some major changes to its iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max this year. For starters, they’re built out of Grade 5 Titanium and have a slightly enhanced design, making the devices more comfortable to hold over long periods of time. Apple has also replaced the mute switch with an Action button that allows shortcuts to be activated as well as activate accessibility features, and many more.

Comparison with Older Models

Apple has made the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max look not much different than the previous model, which has thinner frames around their impressive displays. That makes them more comfortable and ergonomic use, although the larger phones weigh more.

iPhone 15 Pro Max

The major difference lies in the inclusion of the A17 Pro chip on theĀ iPhone 15 Pro Max models. It offers about 10% better efficiency than previous chips. The reason for this is the 3nm manufacturing process, however, it is also due to improvement in design and microarchitectural.

The Pro models come with several features exclusive to them. These include support for USB-C to improve transfer speeds. This makes it possible for ProRes to be saved directly to external drives, which will appeal to video creators. TrueDepth is a front camera that TrueDepth front camera also has certain improvements, and can output 4K with 60fps, which is ideal for HDR display on any external device. Additionally, the latest Digital AV Multiport Adapter which enables you to connect HDMI monitors as well as standard USB devices.

Upgrades

Apple has loaded with the iPhone 15 Pro Max with certain improvements that are worth it, despite keeping it largely the same size as previous models. For starters it has the Dynamic Island feature and 48-megapixel main camera are now available for all models – and a brand New Portrait mode, which offers five times greater zoom.

The display is also now smaller on the edges due to slimmer bezels. It’s the same 6.7-inch XDR ProMotion OLED HDR screen that has as high as 120Hz refresh rates.

In addition, a new Action button is now available located on the left-hand side of the phone. It’s replaced the mute slider. It’s a programmable button that allows you to launch various applications and also trigger features, for example the camera or flashlight, by pressing a button. In addition, it has the standard improvements made by iOS 17 including mood monitoring, interactive widgets and even the ability to provide emergency roadside assistance using satellite.

Differences

Despite a vastly different size, the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max have much in common their predecessors. In fact, both phones are run by an A17 Pro chip — Apple’s first chipset with 3nm.

These chips provide dramatic improvements in performance and graphics and should help in extending the life of batteries. The Titanium chassis is a welcome upgrade, too. It ensures that these phones are more durable.

A further change along with one of the iPhone 15 Pro models is the removal of the Lightning port. The Lightning connector was replaced with a USB C port. This is a good thing since it speeds up data transfer considerably.

Additionally, the latest phones support Wi-Fi 6E connectivity. They also have a more advanced feature to locate you that works together with roadside assistance companies. Then there’s the customizable Action button, which replaces the mute button and allows you to run customized Shortcuts. The smooth edges that were introduced with the iPhone 11 series also return this year.

Features

The iPhone 15 Pro Max offers an array of functions compared to older models. These include night Mode, Spatial video (which uses the main and ultra-wide cameras to capture depth information which can be displayed on Apple Vision Pro), enhanced low-light performance, Smart HDR, as well as next-gen portraits.

The A17 Pro chip also adds boosted neural processing for better low-light and faster motion capture. It also supports AR features such as AR games and apps which use depth mapping to improve object tracking.

The other significant changes include the move to USB-C (it comes with a reversible connector that allows you to plug into any standard USB device) This provides quicker data transfer speeds, and the new Action button which replaces the mute switch with haptic feedback and action options that can be customized. Also, in contrast to earlier generations of iPhones with rounded edges, the new iPhone are rounded for a more comfortable touch. Plus, the titanium grade 5 frame creates this iPhone 15 Pro Max 10 percentage lighter than its predecessor.
